Eligibility & Application

Who qualifies for free lawn care assistance?

We serve elderly residents, people with disabilities, single parents, military families, and anyone facing temporary hardships that make lawn maintenance difficult. Our goal is to help community members who need support maintaining their yards.

How do I apply for lawn care assistance?

Fill out our simple online application form with your contact information, address, and a brief description of your situation. You can also call our hotline if you prefer to apply by phone. Applications are reviewed within 48 hours.

Is there an income requirement?

We don't have strict income requirements. We focus on need rather than income level. Whether you're facing medical expenses, job loss, family circumstances, or physical limitations, we're here to help.

What information do I need to provide?

Basic contact information, your address, the size of your yard, any special circumstances or access instructions, and a brief explanation of why you need assistance. We keep all information confidential.

Service Details

What lawn care services are included?

Our volunteers provide basic lawn mowing, edging around walkways and driveways, and cleanup of grass clippings. Additional services like trimming, weeding, or landscaping may be available depending on volunteer availability and expertise.

How often will my lawn be mowed?

Most recipients receive service every 2-3 weeks during growing season (spring through fall). Frequency depends on grass growth, weather conditions, and volunteer availability in your area.

Do I need to provide lawn equipment?

No! Our volunteers bring their own equipment or use Community Mow's shared tools. You don't need to provide mowers, trimmers, or other equipment. Just make sure your yard is accessible.

What if my yard has special requirements?

Let us know about slopes, obstacles, sprinkler systems, pet areas, or flower beds when you apply. We'll match you with volunteers who have the right equipment and experience for your yard's needs.

Scheduling & Access

How will I know when volunteers are coming?

You'll receive advance notice by phone, email, or text (your preference) when a volunteer is scheduled for your property. We typically provide 24-48 hours notice when possible.

Do I need to be home during service?

Not necessarily! Many recipients are not home during service. Just ensure your yard is accessible and let us know about any locked gates, pets, or special instructions. Some recipients prefer to be home to thank volunteers personally.

What if I need to reschedule or cancel?

Call our hotline or contact us through your recipient dashboard as soon as possible. We understand that schedules change and will work to reschedule your service.

Can I request specific days or times?

We'll do our best to accommodate your preferences, but scheduling depends on volunteer availability. Let us know your preferred times when you apply, and we'll match you with volunteers when possible.

Safety & Guidelines

Are volunteers background checked and insured?

Yes, all volunteers complete background checks and Community Mow carries liability insurance. Our volunteers are community members who want to help their neighbors and are committed to safe, respectful service.

What about my pets and property?

Please secure pets during service for everyone's safety. Let us know about any fragile landscaping, sprinkler heads, or decorative items. Our volunteers are careful, but advance notice helps prevent accidents.

What if there's a problem or concern?

Contact us immediately if you have any concerns about service quality, safety, or volunteer conduct. We take all feedback seriously and will address issues promptly to ensure you're satisfied with our service.

Cost & Donations

Is the service really free?

Yes! There are no charges for our lawn care service. Community Mow is funded by donations and grants, and our volunteers donate their time freely. Our mission is to help community members without any financial burden.

Can I tip the volunteers?

While volunteers appreciate the gesture, we ask that you don't tip them. Instead, a heartfelt thank you note or positive review means the world to our volunteers. If you want to give back, consider donating to Community Mow or volunteering when you're able.

How can I support Community Mow?

Share your story! Tell friends and neighbors about our service. Positive word-of-mouth helps us find more volunteers and recipients. You can also write testimonials, share on social media, or make a small donation if your situation improves.

What if my situation improves?

We're thrilled when recipients no longer need assistance! Please let us know when you're able to resume lawn care independently so we can help others. Some former recipients become volunteers themselves.

Communication & Updates

How do I access my recipient dashboard?

Log in through our website using your registered email address. You'll receive a secure PIN code via email for each login. Your dashboard shows upcoming services, service history, and allows you to update your information.

How do I update my contact information?

Update your information anytime through your recipient dashboard or by calling our hotline. Please keep your contact information current so we can reach you about scheduled services.

Will you share my information?

Never! We keep all recipient information strictly confidential. Information is only shared with volunteers assigned to your property and only what's necessary for service (address, special instructions, contact preferences).

Can I request the same volunteer each time?

While we can't guarantee the same volunteer due to scheduling and availability, we'll note your preference. Many recipients develop ongoing relationships with volunteers who serve their area regularly.
